Who we are

TrackSorter Song Sorter (tssongsorter.com) and TrackSorter Artists (artists.tssongsorter.com) are an independent, fan-made project. They are not affiliated with any artist, label or streaming service. This policy covers both sites.

You can reach us at hello@tssongsorter.com.

The short version

  • There are no accounts, and we never ask for your name or email address.
  • We don’t store your rankings. Your last 10 sorts, and any you pin, are saved in your own browser and never sent to us.
  • We use analytics to count visits and see which features get used.
  • We do not sell your information.
  • The sites may show ads from Google AdSense, which uses cookies to serve them. See Advertising below.

Your rankings

Your last 10 sorts, and any you pin, are saved in your browser’s local storage with their progress, filters and theme, so you can reopen them from History. They are never sent to us, and tssongsorter.com and artists.tssongsorter.com each keep their own. Older sorts are deleted as you start new ones, unless pinned. Clearing your browser’s data for the site deletes them all.

Save backup, in History, downloads your sorts as a file, and Load backup reads one back in your browser. Neither sends anything to us.

Exporting copies your sort to your clipboard as a text code. The code is yours to keep wherever you like, and importing it picks the sort back up. Nothing is sent to us either way.

Share and comparison links contain your ranking, encoded in the link itself, so anyone with the link can see it. When one is opened, our server reads the link to draw its preview image and keeps nothing.

What your browser remembers

Besides your recent sorts (see above), the site keeps a few small notes in your browser’s local storage:

  • which tips, announcements and “What’s new” entries you have already seen
  • which newly added songs you have already been told about

While a tab is open, its session storage briefly holds a comparison in progress and the filters carried over to an album’s page or to the other site. It is cleared when you close the tab.

Clearing your browser’s data for the site removes all of it.

Analytics

We use two analytics services to understand how the site is used:

  • Vercel Web Analytics counts page views. It does not use cookies, and its reports are aggregated: pages, referring sites, country, device and browser.
  • Google Analytics 4 records the pages you visit and actions such as starting, finishing, sharing or comparing a sort, along with your approximate location, device and browser. It sets cookies (named _ga) to tell visits apart. Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses.

In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, Google Analytics runs without cookies, sending only cookieless signals. Anywhere, you can opt out with Google’s browser add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout) or by blocking cookies.

Advertising

The sites may show ads, served by Google AdSense. Ads help cover the cost of running the sites.

When ads are shown, Google and its advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure them and to prevent fraud. Google’s advertising cookies let it and its partners show you ads based on your visits to these sites and to other sites across the internet. To choose and measure ads, Google may also use your IP address and information about your device and browser.

We do not receive this information, and we do not choose the individual ads you see.

In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, you will be asked for your consent before ads use cookies or personal data. If you decline, Google may still show non-personalised ads, which use cookies only for things like limiting how often you see an ad and preventing fraud. You can change your choice later through the privacy settings that come with the consent message.

  • Turn off personalised ads from Google at My Ad Center (myadcenter.google.com).
  • Opt out of personalised ads from many other companies at aboutads.info/choices, or youronlinechoices.eu in Europe.
  • See how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Under some US state privacy laws, personalised advertising can count as “sharing” personal information. The controls above let you opt out of it.

Other services your browser connects to

  • Vercel hosts the site. Like any web host, it handles your IP address to serve pages and may keep it in short-lived logs for security and operations.
  • Apple: song previews and artwork come from the iTunes catalogue. Searches go through our server, but preview audio plays directly from Apple’s servers, which see your IP address.
  • Adobe Fonts serves some of the site’s fonts, and Adobe sees your IP address when they load.
  • Google, for Google Analytics and, when ads are shown, Google AdSense, as described above.

Email

If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your choices and rights

Your recent sorts and the few notes the site leaves in your browser stay on your device, and go when you clear the site’s data. You can also opt out of Google Analytics and of personalised ads as described above.

We do not hold personal data about you: there are no accounts, and analytics reports are aggregated, so we have no way to look up, export or delete one person’s data. Analytics and advertising data is held by Vercel and Google under their own privacy policies (vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy and policies.google.com/privacy), which explain how to make requests to them.

Changes

If what the site collects changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
